Educational Programs Begin for Iranian Hajj Pilgrims
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Ali Akhavian, the education director of the cultural deputy of the Leader’s representative office in Hajj, made the announcement in an interview with IQNA, adding that the educational courses are available in-person, online and offline.
The cleric said they include educational workshops for the pilgrims as well as courses held prior to departure for Hajj.
Lessons and teachings on different subjects such as the rituals and rules of Hajj, secrets and teachings of the pilgrimage, history of Islam and Seerah of the Infallibles (AS). Quranic topics and Islamic beliefs will be offered to the pilgrims, Hojat-ol-Islam Akhavian stated.
While due to the coronavirus pandemic, most of the classes were held online last year, there will be more in-person classes this year, he said.
The cultural deputy of the Leader’s representative office in Hajj has also prepared a number of educational apps such as Musafir Qibla, Ziyarat, etc, which the pilgrims can download and benefit from, he went on to say.
According to Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Seyed Sadeq Hosseini, some 85,000 Iranians will participate in the Hajj this year.
That is the quota allocated to Iran by Saudi Arabia.
In 2022, Saudi Arabia received foreign pilgrims, including Iranians, for Hajj after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Figures show some 1.2 million Iranians are on a waiting list for travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj pilgrimage. They have been waiting for years for their turn.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime.
